Costs people forget
- Wastage: 10–15% extra stone for cuts and corners.
- Transport and loading: slabs are heavy and need careful handling.
- Floor levelling: an uneven base must be corrected before laying.
- Removing old flooring: breaking out old tiles adds labour and debris removal.
- Sealing and re-polishing: a sealer after installation, then polishing every few years.

Is marble flooring expensive?
Not always. Budget Indian marble is one of the more affordable natural stone floors, and it lasts far longer than most alternatives. Tiles that chip or go out of fashion have to be replaced; a marble floor can be re-polished to look new again. Italian marble is the expensive end, and you pay for its look and slab size rather than extra durability.
